Unable to setup Network settings for newly deployed VMAN 7.2 or 8.0

Updated: 11/1/17

Overview

This article provides a solution for an issue that occurs after deploying a new VMAN 7.2 or 8.0 virtual appliance:

  • The virtual appliance does not take the static IP address set or the DHCP IP address.
  • VMAN also does not allow users to configure the network settings.

Environment

  • VMAN 7.2 and VMAN 8.0.

Cause

This occurs because VMware does not allow changes on the VMware config file for the virtual appliance.

Resolution

From here on you can configure the network settings for VMAN as required.

  1. Open the VM console of the VMAN virtual appliance.
  2. On the blue screen, select Log In.
  3. Login using the local admin user account.

    Username: admin

    Password: admin

  4. Apply the following command to elevate the user privilege to root level:

    sudo su - root

  5. Apply the following command to open the VMAN network configuration tool:

    /opt/vmware/share/vami/vami_config_net
