WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

Create a way to view information on VM drive paths that are above 99% free space.

Environment

VMAN 6.0

Resolution

  1. Create a Top-N widget on the Dashboard of choice/
  2. Edit the widget and input the scope query in the first query tab:
    vm.vol.freeSpacePercentage:[99 TO *] AND vm.powerstate:PoweredOn
  3. Now add any attribute in the Columns tab. Once it is added select the column in the list and then edit the "Field" section and add the following xpath query
    /virtualMachine/diskVolume[./freeSpacePercentage>=99]/mountPoint
  4. Now the Top-N widget will display all VMs with drives that have more than 99% disk used and the corresponding drive letters on that machine.
  5. The threshold values in the queries can be adjusted to reflect different usages.
