Configure a static IP address on your Virtual Appliance

Table of contents

Overview

To configure a static IP address, begin with a dynamically assigned address using DHCP.

Environment

VMAN 7.2 and earlier

Detail

The simplest way to configure a static IP address is to begin with a dynamically assigned address using DHCP. After the deployed appliance is accessible on the network, you can configure a static IP address.

If you cannot use DHCP at all, then the IP address must be configured manually using the console.

To manually configure a static IP address, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the deployed VM in vSphere.
  2. Right-click on the name of the VM, and then select Open Console.
  3. Select Configure Network in the Console window.
  4. Type 'n' at the Use a DHCP Server instead of a static IP Address prompt.
  5. After the configuration is complete, the VM will have a static IP address. To make further changes, access the web-based management console at https://<appliance_ip><hostname>:5480.</hostname></appliance_ip>
