Collection issues due to intervals in VMan

Updated March 7, 2017

Overview

Collection errors in the Configuration page on Virtualization Manager result in the following error:

Cannot not collect from data source.

Environment

 All VMan versions

Cause

Virtualization Manager is an analytic product that gathers information from vCenter.  Sometimes, collection could exceed the default collection cycle. This results in VMan trying to run second job even before the first job manages to finish. This in turn results in a failed collection.

Resolution

  1. Go to VMan console > Setup >  Collection schedule.
  2. Increase the Performance and Configuration cycle value (Default is 10 minutes and 12 hours respectively).
