Issue

"No Heartbeat" alerts show for all VMs in ESX and/or Hyper-V environment.

The Virtualization Manager appliance includes an alert that triggers when a VM  fails to send to a heartbeat during the expected interval. Sending a heartbeat in a VMWare environment requires VMWareTools being installed; and in a Hyper-V environment having the Integration Service installed/enabled.

Environment

VMAN

Resolution

Install the appropriate tools or start the appropriate service.

  • For VMware users, install VMWareTools.
  • For Hyper-V, make sure the Integration Service is installed/enabled.
