Overview

This article describes how to collect Solarwinds Virtualization Manager (VMan) diagnostic logs.

Environment

All VMan versions

Detail

There are two possibilities how to get these files.

Using WinSCP

  1. WinSCP to be downloaded here.
    • File protocol: SFTP (default)
    • Host name: VMan IP address
    • Port number: 22 (default)
    • User name / Password for view-only: admin / admin
       
  2. Files to be found in directories mentioned in table below.
    Log name
    Location
    Content
    master.log \var\log\hyper9\ Main log file. Additional logging can be turned on and recorded into this file.
    h9maint.log \var\log\hyper9\  
    catalina.yyyy-mm-dd.log \usr\share\tomcat\logs\  
    Main VMan log file is master.log, where basic logs are being saved. Additional logging, such as for data collection, can be turned on separately, see here for details.

 

By downloading via VMan admin interface

  1. Go to address https://<VMAN_IP_ADDRESS>:5480.
  2. On SolarWinds Mgmt tab there is a button Bundle Logs, which generates pack of logs to be downloaded.
