ESX discovery does not find VM IPs

Issue:

VM IPs are not found during ESX discovery.

Resolution:

The discovery plugin respects the hop count that you select in the Discovery Settings. Make sure that you select the hop count necessary for your purposes.

The meaning of the hop counts is the following:

  • 0 hops: use this setting to discover only the VCenter.
  • 1 hop: use this setting to discover ESX and the VMs under the particular VCenter.
  • 2 or more hops: use this setting if you have a complex hierarchy to discover (for instance, if you have another VCenter installed on one of the VMs).
