How is memory ballooning calculated?

 

VMAN calculates the value as a sum of the Memory/Balloon performance counters on all ESX hosts that belong to the cluster.

 

vmmernctl is the internal performance counter on each host. Here is how to find the counter on a vSphere client for a selected host:
