Detail

There are 'canned' reports for unused ports report that pulls from a view not a table called 'dbo.UDT_UnUsedPorts'. (View cannot be seen from the Orion Database Manager)

This view has the following columns:

NodeID -- (Node associated with port)

Caption -- (Node Name associated with port)

DNS -- (Hostname of Node associated with port)

IP_Address -- (IP address of Node associated with port)

PortID -- (PortID of Port)

Name -- (Name of Port)

PortDescription -- (Description of Port)

DaysUnused -- (Days the port has been unused)

The biggest key to this view is that it changes the DaysUnused column from 'Never' to a numerical count based on last usage. This view is populated when a port with a current endpoint(s) has all of those endpoints moved into historical data. At that time the view will update the DaysUnused column based off at date time conversion from current date compared to the date of the last connection and supply the difference. Operational status of the port has no bearing on this table and can be mistaken quite often as the port being in use when operational status or 'Active Status' is 'yes' or up.
