User Device Tracker 3.3.2 Release Notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in this release. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

New features and improvements

UDT 3.3.2 is a service release. It contains the two hotfixes UDT 3.3.1, HF2, and HF3

UDT 3.3.1 was a service release. It contained the three hotfixes UDT 3.3 HF1, HF2, and HF3.

UDT 3.3.2 uses Orion Platform 2018.4.

Orion Platform 2018.4 new features and improvements  

Centralized Upgrades

  • Automatically upgrade additional polling engines, additional web servers, and High Availability servers directly from the Orion Web Console. Upgrades run in parallel, dramatically reducing the time required to upgrade large deployments.

  Authenticate users with the SAML protocol

  • Users can log in to the Orion Web Console using Okta or Active Directory Federation Service credentials.

Performance Analysis upgrades

  • PerfStack can transform line data to show different values instead of raw data.

Orion Deployment Health updates

  • Orion Diagnostics on the Web: Collect diagnostics from your polling engines directly from the Orion Web Console.

  • Access your deployment health directly from Settings.

Other improvements

  • Legacy charts and classic charts are being replaced by new generation modern charts.
  • Open a Performance Analysis dashboard for a mapped entity directly from Orion Maps.

SolarWinds Orion Installer

Before you upgrade! 

Use the following resources for planning and upgrading:

  • UDT 3.3.2 requires the Orion Platform 2018.4.

  • UDT 3.3.2 requires Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2014 or higher. 

  • To use UDT 3.3.2 and IPAM together, you must upgrade to IPAM 4.8 

  • UDT 3.3.2 is not compatible with NCM 7.7 or earlier. 

  • When upgrading, if you added a site binding to a host name before you upgrade, you must bind the Orion Web Console to a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). See this article.

  • When upgrading with custom menus, you cannot see the Performance Dashboard link in the menu. For details, see this article.

  • When upgrading an Additional Poller, you may receive this error :"The license we have for Orion Scalability Engine is outdated". See this article for details to resolve.

How to upgrade

If you are upgrading from a previous version, use the following resources to plan and implement your upgrade:

  • Use the Product Upgrade Advisor to determine your upgrade path. Based on your current environment and versions, the Product Upgrade Advisor provides an ordered list of how to proceed with the upgrade.

UDT v3.3 included the following fixed issues:

Fixed an issue with the AD Domain Controller Polling Details resource, where the polling status was not loading.

1132380 Fixed an issue where if one port has more than two VLANs (it was excluded from direct port-to-endpoint connections.
1194589 Fixed an issue where endpoints were shown as "Never Seen".
1175973 Fixed an issue where application error occurred if the device SSID contained special characters.
1022987 Fixed an issue where port VLAN was shown as "Unknown".

End of Life

December 4, 2018:

End-of-Life (EoL) announcement - Customers on IPAM  versions 3.2 or older should begin transitioning to IPAM 3.3.2.

March 4, 2019:

End-of-Engineering (EoE) - Service Releases, bug fixes, workaround, and service packs for IPAM version 3.2 or older will no longer be actively supported by SolarWinds.

March 4, 2020:

End-of-Life (EoL) - SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for IPAM version 3.2 or older.

Orion Platform 2018.4 no longer supports the following platforms and features.
