New features and improvements

UDT 3.3.1 is a service release. It contains the three hotfixes, UDT 3.3 HF1, HF2 and HF3.

For features and improvements in 3.3, please see the User Device Tracker 3.3 Release Notes.

New customer Installation

For information about installing UDT 3.3.1, see the SolarWinds Orion Installer documentation.

Before you upgrade!

Use the following resources for planning and upgrading:

  • UDT 3.3.1 uses the Orion Platform 2018.2.

  • From UDT 3.3, UDT no longer supports Windows OS 2008 and 2008 R2 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. For more information, see End of support notices.

  • When upgrading, if you added a site binding to a host name before you upgrade, you must bind the Orion Web Console to a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). See this article.

  • When upgrading with custom menus, you cannot see the Performance Dashboard link in the menu. For details, see this article.

  • From UDT 3.3, the Alert Manager application has been deprecated and removed. Please use the web-based Alert Manager through the Orion Web Console to create and manage alerts. For more information, see End of support notices.

  • When upgrading an Additional Poller, you may receive this error :"The license we have for Orion Scalability Engine is outdated". See this article for details to resolve.

  • If you have written your own code, such as changing SolarWinds .css files or adding .js files, it may be overwritten with the upgrade. You can learn more about custom code in this article.
  • If you have edited resource properties, the All Groups resource may be empty after upgrading.
  • When upgrading, using the group by feature for custom properties may return no results, and the data loading may hang or not complete. All regular functionality is unaffected by the issue.
  • Always upgrade NPM first if you have it installed. NPM includes platform features to support all Orion products.
  • If you have SAM without NPM, upgrade SAM first. SAM includes platform features to support all Orion products.

How to upgrade

If you are upgrading from a previous version, use the following resources to plan and implement your upgrade:

  • Use the Product Upgrade Advisor to determine your upgrade path. Based on your current environment and versions, the Product Upgrade Advisor provides an ordered list of how to proceed with the upgrade.
  • To use IPAM and UDT 3.3.1 together, you must upgrade to IPAM 4.7.
  • UDT 3.3.1 is not compatible with NCM 7.7 or earlier.
  • If you are upgrading:
  • When you are ready, download the upgrade package from the SolarWinds Customer Portal.
