Overview

This article provides basic checks you can perform to verify that UDT is getting the host name IP and MAC address in your environment.

Environment

All UDT versions

Steps

Verify the following:

  • The UDT license is valid and not exceeding the license limit.
    • Go to Settings > All Settings > UDT Settings > License Details.
  • All Layer 2 and 3 nodes are added to UDT.
    • Go to Settings > All Settings > UDT Settings > Manage Port.
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 polling are enabled on Layer 2 and Layer 3 nodes added to UDT.
    1. Go to Settings > All Settings > Manage Nodes.
    2. Highlight a node (or nodes) and click Edit.
    3. Verify that Layer 2 and Layer 3 are selected in UDT Node Properties.
    4. Set the default polling interval to 30 minutes.
  • All ports and switches or routers are monitored by UDT.
    1. Go to Settings > All Settings > UDT Settings > Manage Port.
    2. Click the Show button.

For hostname information, UDT gathers that via the primary DNS server that the UDT host server is connected to. The application conducts reverse lookups of the IPs it finds to said DNS server, so you will need to insure that such a DNS has the records populated.

For IP information, UDT gathers the IP data via the ARP table on a layer 2 or layer 3 device. You will want to insure that these devices are populated with the ARP results you need to insure UDT is able to find them.
