UDT (User Device Tracker) reports issues with node-port child status even if there is actually no issue.
When viewing a map on the Orion web site, this will appear as a red dot on SNMP polled devices. This is a known defect which is not normally desired.

The default settings on the Web Console Settings, Show Worst Status, causes this issue to happen.

There are two ways to fix this problem. First is to run a couple of SQL query in SQL Server Management Studio.

  1. Run SQL Server Management Studio on the SQL server hosting your Orion database.
  2. Log in to the instance hosting your Orion database.
  3. Expand Server\Instance > Databases.
  4. Right-click your Orion database, and then click New Query.
  5. Copy the following query into the new query field, and click Execute.
    UPDATE [dbo].[NodeChildStatusParticipation] set [Enabled] = 0 where [EntityType] = 'Orion.UDT.Port'
    EXEC [dbo].[swsp_ReflowAllNodeChildStatus].
  6. Restart all the Orion Services - How to Start/Stop Orion Services.

The script in step 5 will prevent UDT from affecting the node status icon.

The second way to fix this issue is to select only Child statuses that do not include UDP.PORT.
This fix is only temporary and eventually the option will go back to the default Show Worst Status. causing the issue to happen again.

  1.  Log into the Orion website and click Settings in the upper right hand corner.
  2. On the next page select Web Console Setting listed under Settings.
  3. Within the Web Console settings change the Child Status Rollup Mode to something other than the default Show Worst Status.
