SRM Additional Polling engine vs. Orion Module Polling Engine

Overview

The following rules are applied to SRM additional pollers:

  • An SRM additional polling engine is free if the SRM additional engine is installed as a standalone product.
  • An SRM additional polling engine can be installed on top of any licensed additional polling engine.
  • No other additional polling engine can be installed on top of an existing SRM additional polling engine (if only the SRM polling engine installation exists).

Environment

  • All SRM versions
  • Additional poller software bundled with other SolarWinds Orion modules
  • SRM additional poller single downloads

Resolution

Should there be complications with the installation of the engines, do the following as a workaround:

  1. Uninstall the SRM additional polling software.
  2. Install the Orion module to the additional poller server.
  3. Reinstall the SRM additional polling software.
