Set custom thresholds in SRM

Overview

This article discusses how to modify the threshold values which is useful when monitoring is inaccurate due to the threshold settings not matching the capabilities of your storage devices.Most of the resources available in the Orion Web Console are capable of displaying error and warning conditions for your storage devices. Orion uses the values provided on the threshold pages to determine when and how to display error and warning messages.

Steps

To modify your threshold settings globally:

  1. Go to Settings > SRM Settings. 

  2. Click any of the threshold links to set the Critical and Warning level for different metrics.


To modify your threshold settings locally:

  1. Go to Settings > SRM Settings > Manage Storage Objects.
  2. From the Managing Storage Objects page, select the storage object you wish to modify.
  3. Click Edit Properties.
  4. Under Alerting Thresholds, select Override Orion General Thresholds.
  5. Change the threshold values as needed.

 

 

Local threshold settings can be adjusted for the following:

  • Storage Arrays/Clusters
  • Vservers
  • Pools
  • LUNs
  • NAS Volumes

Dynamic Baseline Calculations

Dynamic baseline calculations are supported for the following:

  • Storage Arrays/Clusters
    • IOPS (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • IO Size (Total, Read, Write)
    • Throughput (Total, Read, Write)
  • V-servers
    • IOPS (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • IO Size (Total, Read, Write)
    • Throughput (Total, Read, Write)
  • Pools
    • IOPS (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • IO Size (Total, Read, Write)
    • Throughput (Total, Read, Write)
  • LUNs
    • IOPS (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • Latency (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • IO Size (Total, Read, Write)
    • Throughput (Total, Read, Write)
  • NAS Volumes
    • IOPS (Total, Read, Write, Other)
    • IO Size (Total, Read, Write)
