Pure Storage: File Deduplication in web based reports

Table of contents

Updated March 9, 2017

Overview

You have a Pure Storage array and would like to add the File Deduplication information in the web based report.

Environment

  • SRM 6.3
  • Pure Storage arrays

Steps

Create and add a custom SWQL resource to report:

  1. Edit the report and click Add Content.
  2. Select Unknown, Custom Query
  3. Click Edit Resource and enter the query to poll Deduplication data.

Prepare the query itself (for all LUNs or Storage Arrays):

  1. Open http://10.0.0.1/Orion/Admin/Swis.aspx (replace 10.0.0.1 with your Orion address).
  2. Remove default query from text box.
  3. From the drop-down list "Select Entity" pick Orion.SRM.LUNs (Orion.SRM.StorageArrays should have deduplication properties as well) and click "Generate Select Query". Now you can remove fields which you don't need and leave LUN name, TotalReduction, DataReduction, etc.
  4. Click Execute Query to display results. It may take a moment to generate, depends on how many LUNs you have.
  5. If the results are ok, copy the query to report.
