Configuring LSI Provider for Dell PowerVault, LSI, or NetApp E-Series arrays

Overview

This article is to assist customers in configuring the NetApp LSI provider.

Download the SMI-S Provider from NetApp:

  1. Run the downloaded NetApp file as an administrator.
    It will install NetApp SANtricity SMI-S Provider to C:\Program Files(x86).
  2. Add the IP of the array to the ArrayHosts file. If it has two controllers, just add one controller's IP address.
  3. Once it is installed successfully, go to the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\NetApp\pegasus\bin and run ArrayMgmtUtil as admistrator.
    • Enter CIMON IP address -- the IP address of the server on which you installed this NetApp application
    • Enter CIMON Port -- either 5989 or 5988
    • Enter CIMON username -- Default is admin
    • Enter CIMON password -- Default is admin
    • Select n for a secure connection and SSL certificate if you want just to get this working
    • If you downloaded NetApp provider, select option 1 which is /root/netapp/santricity
    • Enter option 1 to add an array
    • Enter the IP address of the array which you also added to the ArrayHost file earlier
    • Select n for no storage array password and then let it verify that it can connect and get CIM classes information

    If the array doesn't get added successfully you may get an error:

  4. If you receive the error above, check the SbmaTraceLog:

    Search this log by the IP address of the array and you might find why it can't be added (for example, failed to discover).

    For example, if the array gateway is disabled, you must enable it to add the array to the SMI-S Provider.

  5. After the array is added successfully in the SMI-S Provider, add storage on the web console. Even though it might be a DELL MD3XXX array, select the NetApp E-Series / EF-Series array. (You might  need to try different device types.)

  6. Add the SMI-S Provider using the Provider server's IP address.
  7. Add the admin credentials.
  8. Make sure you select HTTP or HTTPS in Advanced options and verify that the Test Connection passes. It should then discover the arrays.
