Antivirus and intrusion detection

Updated: June 16, 2017

Any external software that scans the SRM Profiler Database and module files can cause locks and potential corruption. Blockage of ports used by SRM Profiler can also cause problems. SolarWinds recommends that you add the following exclusions to your antivirus and intrusion detection software.

SRM Profiler versions 5.6 and newer use MariaDB. For previous versions, MySQL is used. For versions prior to 5.6, substitute MySQL for MariaDB.

SRM Profiler server exclusions - Windows

  • <Install Directory>\SRM Profiler Server\agent\systemic
  • <install Directory>\SRM Profiler Server\agent\administrative
  • <install Directory>\SRM Profiler Server\mariadb
  • C:\Windows\Temp

If you are unable to exclude C:\Windows\Temp, perform the following steps:

  1. Open my.cnf in C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SRM Profiler Server\mysql.
  2. Search for "tmpdir". By default it is commented out. Uncomment and add your desired subdirectory. This example uses a sub directory called MyTemp. (tmpdir=C:/MyTemp). Ensure that the MyTemp folder is created on the C drive using a forward slash (/).
  3. Add C:\MyTemp to the Antivirus exclusion list.
  4. Restart mysql.

SRM Profiler server exclusions - Linux

  • <Install Directory>/Storage_Manager_Server/agent/systemic
  • <install Directory>/Storage_Manager_Server/agent/administrative
  • <install Directory>/Storage_Manager_Server/mariadb

SRM Profiler agent exclusions - Windows

  • <install Directory>\SRM Profiler Agent\systemic
  • <install Directory>\SRM Profiler Agent\administrative

SRM Profiler agent exclusions - Non Windows

  • <install Directory>Storage_Manager_Agent/systemic
  • <install Directory>Storage_Manager_Agent/administrative

Port exclusions for SRM Profiler server and agents

Your Antivirus and Intrusion Detection software must allow access to the following ports:

  • TCP 4319, 8443, 43501, 43502, 43503, 43504
  • UDP 162, 10162, 20162

SRM Profiler uses UDP 162 by default. If this port is being used by another application, it will use either UDP 10162 or 20162.
