Install SRM Profiler server on Windows

Before Installing:

  • Ensure you have downloaded the correct installer.
  • Close any service window(s). Installation will not work properly if you leave this window open.
  • Stop your anti-virus software. Some anti-virus software packages can interfere with the product installation.
  • Back up the SRM Profiler database. See Backing up the SRM Profiler database for more information.
  • Uninstall any previous instances of the MariaDB or MySQL. Only one instance of the MariaDB is supported on the SRM Profiler server.
    • SRM Profiler versions 5.6 and newer use MariaDB. For previous versions, MySQL is used.
    • For versions prior to 5.6, substitute MySQL for MariaDB.

Installation path

All SRM Profiler binary and data files are located under the installation directory. When installing, select a directory located on a partition with enough space (at least 40 GB) to accommodate the SRM Profiler database over time.

SolarWinds SRM Profiler cannot be installed on the same server as SolarWinds Virtualization Manager.

Windows clean install

After downloading the product from the SolarWinds website:

SRM Profiler Server installs these services:

  1. Navigate to your downloaded .zip file, and extract the package to an appropriate location.
  2. Launch the SolarWinds SRM Profiler server executable.
  3. Review the Welcome text, and click Next.
  4. Select setup type.

    Express Install is recommended for Evaluations.

  5. Accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.
    • License: The built-in 30 day evaluation license will be used during install. After installing you can enter your activation key.
    • Path: The default install path is: C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SRM Profiler Server\
    • Database Password: The default password is "solarwinds".
    • MariaDB: the database for all data collected by SRM Profiler.

      SRM Profiler versions 5.6 and newer use MariaDB. For previous versions, MySQL is used. For versions prior to 5.6, substitute MySQL for MariaDB

    • SolarWinds Storage Manager Collector: collects data from agents.
    • SolarWinds Storage Manager Event Receiver: receives traps.
    • SolarWinds Storage Manager Maintenance: runs maintenance routines in the background.
    • SolarWinds Storage Manager Poller: remotely polls devices or applications by a variety of methods.
    • SolarWinds Storage Manager Web Services: the tomcat web server.
  6. Click Finish to exit the Setup Wizard.
  7. Click the SRM Profiler icon on your desktop or point your web browser at http://localhost:9000. You should see a Login Screen.

    The default Web Server Port can be changed in the server.xml file in the configuration folder C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\SRM Profiler Server\conf. After changing, you need to restart the Tomcat web service.

  8. Log in with the user name Admin and no password:
  9. To complete the server installation, enter your product activation key that was previously copied on the License page, or continue running the product under the 30 day evaluation mode.
  10. Next step: Installing SRM Profiler agents on the devices you want to monitor.

Uninstall SRM Profiler

Use the Add or Remove Programs for Windows Server 2003 R2 or Programs and Features for Windows Server 2008 R1/R2 and Windows Server 2012 R1/R2 to remove SRM Profiler.
