Overview

This article describe how to monitor ZFS file systems on Solaris devices.

Environment

Steps

Warnings:

  • Consult your System Administrator before performing the following procedure.
  • SolarWinds strongly recommends that you only edit the mod.sys.strg.Storage.xml file as instructed. Any additional modifications may result in system performance issues or may create an error state.
  • Save a copy of the original mod.sys.strg.Storage.xml file to your local drive as a backup file, in case you need to roll back later.

1. Install the STM agent on the server containing the ZFS (file systems). Refer to Installing Storage Manager Agents.
2. Navigate to the install directory at C:\SolarWinds\Storage Manager Agent\systemic\mod.sys.strg.Storage_1.0.

Linux agents:

/opt/Storage_Manager_Server/agent/systemic/mod.sys.strg.Storage_1.0/

3. Edit the mod.sys.strg.Storage.xml file and comment the following line:

<validFsDevicePattern>c\d+t\d+d\d+s\d+|c\d+d\d+s\d+|c\d+d\d+p\d+|/dev/vx/dsk|/dev/md/dsk/d\d+|/dev/dsk</validFsDevicePattern>

So that it reads:

<!--

<validFsDevicePattern>c\d+t\d+d\d+s\d+|c\d+d\d+s\d+|c\d+d\d+p\d+|/dev/vx/dsk|/dev/md/dsk/d\d+|/dev/dsk</validFsDevicePattern>

-- >

4. Save the file and close.

5. Restart the STM agent service for the change to take effect.
