Storage Manager and Allocated Volume Usage for user defined LUN groups

Table of contents

Overview

For Storage Manager 5.7 and above, the Allocated Volume Usage report in Storage Manager (LUN Groups -> User Defined LUN Group -> Servers -> Allocated Volume Usage) serves to report volume usage for servers and virtual machines that use storage array LUNs belonging to user defined LUN groups. This report also provides volume usage for servers and virtual machines with local storage and includes growth rates with forecast information.
There is one caveat to this report.  The report shows the virtual disk (file system volumes) for all virtual machines associated with a particular LUN. This is not necessarily a 1 to 1 mapping from Volume -> VMDK file -> LUN for each volume since the ability to get that type of mapping is not available via the VMware API.
