Table of contents

On September 4, 2014, IBM released version of the SAN Volume Controller (SVC) Code.  This new firmware release (microcode) altered the way in which the device's cache is used and also the way that disk statistics are reported.  If you have an IBM array that is reporting data, yet no Node Performance data is being displayed, please confirm your firmware version.

If you have been advised to install SVC version 7.3.x for remediation of the Bash vulnerability (commonly called ShellShock), that issue is also remedied in SVC For more information, see SVC

SolarWinds has confirmed that SVC versions 7.2.x are compatible with Storage Manager 5.7 for reporting Node Performance data. It is recommended that customers remain on the 7.2.x track to maintain interoperability with Storage Manager.

UPDATE: The Node Performance data issues with SVC version 7.3.x has been fixed in SRM v6.0.1. To update your installation, please see the resources in your Customer Portal.

Affected device family is:

  • IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC)
  • IBM StorWise V3700
  • IBM StorWise V5000
  • IBM StorWise V7000
  • IBM StorWise V7000 (Gen 2)
