This article provides information on Storage Manager integration.
SRM 6.0+
Storage Resource Monitor (SRM) can run as an integrated module with SRM Profiler (formerly Storage Manager (STM)). This feature gives you the option of running both products in parallel, so that you can monitor arrays not supported in SRM. For a full list of devices supported by SRM and SRM Profiler, see Which arrays are supported by SRM and SRM Profiler? in the SRM Administrator Guide. Migrating devices from one product to the other is not necessary. SRM and SRM Profiler work independently with each other in supporting separate databases.
When SRM and SRM Profiler are integrated, SRM Profiler serves as the licensing server for both products, and is responsible for maintaining the total disk license count. For more information on licensing SRM Profiler, see the SRM Profiler Administrator Guide.
SRM and SRM Profiler maintain individual license caches that keeps record of their total disk count. When changes happen such as adding or removing a disk, a notification is sent to both SRM and SRM Profiler allowing them to update their license cache with the changes. The license cache information is shared every 5 minutes between SRM and SRM Profiler via secure communications over HTTPS using port 8443.
