Data archive window exceeded

Overview

This article describes the issue when SMI-S collection has stopped annd in the module log, an error message appears:

02 Feb 2016 14:37:42 - Data limit exceeded, removing oldest entry with key '      ' from 4205_perf (deleted: true)

Environment

  • STM version 5.x
  • SRM Profiler version 6.x
  • Windows 2008+

Cause 

This issue occurs when the data cache folder is full and STM/SRM Profiler can no longer write new data.  

Resolution

  1. Stop Storage Manager Agent service on the affected server.
  2. Rename the folder data to data_old in c:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Storage Manager.Agent\systemic\mod.sys.smis.Smis_1.0\.
  3. Restart agent.
  4. Allow Storage Manager to poll for 2 hours without making any config changes.
    • Note: Any config changes restart the collection.
