Conflicting information between EMC VNX and Storage Manager for storage utilization values

Updated March 11th, 2016

Overview

VNX storage utilization values do not match when comparing STM and Unisphere values.

Environment

All STM versions

Resolution

EMC is researching the issue and will provide a patch for resolution.

Cause

Utilization information is not reported for LUNs with deduplication features. The information is reported as N/A. There is no correct utilization value when blocks are shared from within the LUN and across LUNs with a deduplication pool. The EMC provider does not report LUN deduplication details and without this information Storage Manager cannot report accurate storage utilization values.
