Windows service monitors error: Quota violation

Updated November 7, 2016

Overview

When attempting to monitor a large amount of Windows services in one Application Monitor, all of the monitors return the following error:

Unexpected error: Quota Violation

Environment

  • All SAM versions
  • Application Monitor with a large amount of Windows service monitors

Cause

This occurs when SAM Polling bulk polls all of the services in one WMI query. For example, if a template has 50 service monitors then it will utilize one WMI query.

Resolution

Switch the polling method of all Windows Service Monitors to RPC:

  1. Edit the Application Monitor.
  2. Select all the Windows service monitor components.
  3. Click Multi-Edit.
  4. Change Fetching Method to RPC (Remote Procedure Call).
