Warranty date for ESX servers not updating automatically

Overview

The automatic update for asset inventory does not include the warranty date. When checking the database, the LastWarrantyPoll information is not updated in Server & Application Monitor (SAM).

The following errors can be found in the logs:

SAM 6.1 - Error polling HP. Warranty info not found at expected place on web page.
SAM 6.2 - This product number is not associated with the serial number provided. Please review your records and make any necessary edits or check the box to remove this item.

Environment

All SAM versions

Note: This issue is resolved with SAM 6.4 Please see SAM 6.4 Release Notes.

Cause

The ESX server's ProductNumber returned via VMware API during automatic polling is incorrect.

Resolution

1. Go to the HP website and pull the correct device product numbers.

2. Run the following query:
    UPDATE AssetInventory_ServerInformation
  SET ProductNumber ='XXXXX'
  WHERE NodeID ='YYYY'

3. Perform manual polling - Unscheduled Node Polling and Rediscovery.

Note: After polling, the ProductNumber reverts to the value from VMware API.
