Unable to connect to any specified MySQL hosts

The following error message is received in the SolarWinds website:

Unable to connect to any specified MySQL hosts

(C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\Config\machine.config line 2XX)

This is due to an error in the Mysql connector installation and is non-SolarWinds related.

DISCLAIMER: Please note this is not an issue regarding the SolarWinds software but is an issue caused by the MySQL connector on the server. You can uninstall the MySQL connector from the server and it will resolve the issue. If you cannot do so then you may attempt to do the steps below which several of our customers have used in the past from sites like TechNet and Stackoverflow but it is at your own risk.

  1. Stop all SolarWinds Services.

  3. Open the machine.config file in any text editor.
