Error in log:

2014-01-10 20:24:35,300 [STP Pool:50 Thread #0] [C0] ERROR SolarWinds.APM.Probes.MultiVmwarePerfCounterHelper - Unexpected error during VMware performance counter polling

System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ---> System.IO.IOException: Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream.

Resolution 1

Enable the TLS Protocol. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. In the Start menu, type regedit and then press Enter.
  2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\Schannel\Protocols\TLS 1.0\Client
  3. Change Enabled to be "1" (Enabled = 1).
  4. To apply the changes you need to restart your Orion server.

Resolution 2

You can completely remove the TLS 1.0 sub-key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\Schannel\Protocols\ and then restart your Orion server, which will leave the TLS protocol enabled by default.
