Triggered SAM component alerts not displaying name or status in alerts or events

Overview

When you create an alert using a component entity in SAM, the generated alerts may not include a component name and status. To generate alerts and events displaying the component name and status, you need to exclude hidden components.

Environment

  • SAM 6.3 HotFix 1

Cause 

Hidden component causes an issue with displaying the component name and status for alerts and events.

 

Resolution

To resolve, exclude hidden components from the alert. All generated alerts and events will then properly display the component name and status.

A possible work-around is to add a trigger to the alert to exclude NULL from the Orion.APM.ComponentAlert.

  • Component
  • Component ID (Component Alerting Properties) 
  • "is not empty"

If you want to include hidden components as source for the alert, change actions to not use variables from Orion.APM.ComponetAlert.
