The WS-Management service is configured to not accept any remote shell requests

Overview

This article addresses the following error that is displayed when using the Test Connection option within the AppInsight for Exchange or AppInsight for IIS applications:

The WS-Management service is configured to not accept any remote shell requests.

Environment

Server & Application Monitor 6.1 or later

Cause 

This occurs when AllowRemoteShellAccess is disabled for a group policy.

Resolution

  1. On the Exchange Server, open Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).
  2. Open Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components.
  3. Click Windows Remote Shell.
  4. Double-click AllowRemoteShellAccess.
  5. Set its value to Enabled.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Open an elevated CMD window.
  8. Run the following command:
    gpupdate /force
