Fixed issues

This hotfix addresses the following issues:

  • SOAP monitor error
  • HTTPS monitor error

SOAP monitor error

This hotfix addresses an issue where the SOAP monitor fails because it cannot negotiate TLS 1.0 connection.

This can be identified by the following error message visible in the SAM logs:

System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error 
occurred on a send.
---> System.IO.IOException: The handshake failed due to an unexpected packet format.

You may receive this error in the following situations:

  • Installing SAM 6.2.4
  • Installing SAM 6.3

Install this hotfix after installing SAM 6.3.

HTTPS monitor error

This hotfix addresses an issue where the HTTPS monitor fails because it cannot verify the server certificate CommonName.

This can be identified by the following error message visible in the SAM logs:

System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust
relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is 
invalid according to the validation procedure.

You may receive this error in the following situations:

  • Installing SAM 6.3

Install this hotfix after installing SAM 6.3.

 

Environment

Apply this hotfix to the following products:

  • SAM 6.3

Notes

  • This hotfix requires SolarWinds Orion Core 2016.2 and SAM 6.3.
  • This hotfix must be installed on the main poller, on any additional pollers, and web servers.
  • This hotfix addresses the described issues for SAM 6.3.

Installation instructions

Install this standalone hotfix on the main poller, on any additional pollers, and web servers.

  1. Log in to the server hosting your SolarWinds Orion installation as an administrator.

  2. Run the Orion Service Manager, click Shutdown Everything, and close the Orion Service Manager.

  3. Run standalone hotfix SolarWinds-SAM-v6.3-Hotfix1.exe, and follow the instructions in the installation wizard.

After applying this fix, the issues outlined in the Fixed Issues description should no longer occur.

Uninstallation instructions

  1. Log in to the server hosting your SolarWinds Orion installation as an administrator.
  2. Run the Orion Service Manager, click Shutdown Everything, and close the Orion Service Manager.
  3. Navigate to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > View installed updates.
  4. Select "Update for SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor v6.3 (Hotfix1)", click Uninstall, and complete the uninstallation wizard.
