Overview

This article provides brief information and steps to resolve the following error:

SAM error Monitoring MySQL database server. ODBC data source returned an error. [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Host '10.199.15.46' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server. 

 

Environment

All SAM versions

Resolution

Example:

Assume the IP address of your Orion server is 10.199.15.46.

To grant access to this IP address, enter the following command in mysql> prompt for existing an database:

      mysql> update db set Host='10.199.15.46' where Db='webdb';
      mysql> update user set Host='10.199.15.46' where user='webadmin';

If this resolution does not work, then it's possible you could be looking at the wrong target machine or that you are testing on the wrong machine. Verify it is the correct machine before moving forward.

 

This error is a possibility after verifying the correct machine:

[MySQL][ODBC 5.3(w) Driver][mysqld-5.7.20]The 'INFORMATION_SCHEMA.GLOBAL_STATUS' feature is disabled; see the documentation for 'show_compatibility_56'.

 

Cause: show_compatibility_56 is deprecated

 

Resolution: Run the following query in your MySQL database:
set @@global.show_compatibility_56=ON;
