Home > Success Center > Server & Application Monitor (SAM) > SAM cannot access some x86 counters on x64 machines

SAM cannot access some x86 counters on x64 machines

Overview

SAM cannot access some x86 counters on x64 machines.

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause

Some counters may not be compatible depending upon the architecture of the operating system.

Resolution

It is not possible for SAM to monitor a Unidata server if it is installed on a x64 system. The server itself works but it is not possible for SAM to access its counters because they are installed in the x32 area.

As a workaround, use WMI Monitors for monitoring performance counters for 32bit applications running on a 64bit operating system.
