WMI queries or permissions must exist in the WMI hive for SAM component credentials to work, especially for services and processes.

To verify the credentials in the Orion Web Console, access the Edit Application page for the monitor and click Test Connection. Change the component credentials, if necessary, and click Submit to save your changes.

You can also use the Microsoft WBEMTest tool to check credentials:

  1. Open a command prompt and run WBEMTEST.
  2. Click Connect.
  3. Enter the IP address for Namespace \\<ip of target node>\root\cimm2\

For users with an AD account, enter the domain name\user name along with the corresponding password. For example, UN: Microsoft\JohnDoe.

  4. Click Connect > Query.
  5. Copy and paste the following queries one at a time:
    1 SELECT FROM Win32_Service
    2 SELECT FROM Win32_Process
    3 SELECT FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfProc_Process

SAM must show results in the WMI hive to have any reasonable expectation to work.

If an ACCESS DENIED message appears, the user does not have rights to issue and query.
