Solarwinds & Cisco Live! Barcelona
Join us from the 29th of January to the 2nd of February at Cisco Live 2018 in Barcelona, where we will continue to show how monitoring the network with SolarWinds will keep you ahead of the game. At our booth (WEP 1A), we will demonstrate how SolarWinds network solutions can help. As a bonus, we are also hosting a pre-event webinar - Blame the Network, Hybrid IT Edition with our SolarWinds Head Geek™, Patrick Hubbard on January 24th - GMT (UTC+0): 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. There's still time to RSVP.

Hardware thresholds can be enabled, disabled, or modified via the Manage Hardware Sensors screen.

You may need to log in with an administrator account to perform this action.

  1. On the Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > Manage Hardware Sensors.
  2. To enable or disable objects from being monitored, select the objects, then click either Enable or Disable.
  3. To modify hardware thresholds, check the objects, then click Edit Thresholds.
  4. Choose from the following three options:
    1. Use Orion defaults: Use the built-in Orion logic for translating sensor reading to status.
    2. Force to Up: Ignore sensor readings when calculating status. The status is always Up.
    3. Set custom thresholds: Create your own logic for mapping sensor readings to Orion status.
Note: Threshold modification may not be available for certain objects where information is not available.
    4. Complete the logic form for both the Warning threshold and the Critical threshold as needed to satisfy your requirements.
  5. Click Submit.

Additionally, some values can be configured through the Hardware Monitoring Agent Software installed on your hardware. Dell OpenManage Server Administrator is one such example. The illustration below shows how threshold values for the temperature can be changed from the default values using Dell's software.

Different default thresholds exist for different items in the Hardware Monitoring Agent Software. Some of these thresholds may be accessible and open to editing, some may not. Consult your Hardware Monitoring Agent Software user guide for specific information about editing thresholds.
