Real Time Process Explorer cpu and io_bytes values may not be accurate under high load

Updated 8-23-2016

Overview

When the system is under high load, the Real Time Process Explorer (RTPE) may not display the accurate calculated values for cpu and io_bytes. If the system is under high load, the time interval for collecting data for calculations may require additional time to complete. The calculations may be slightly inaccurate due to the length of time versus the actual values for the monitored node.

Environment

  • Orion agent
  • SAM

Cause

The time interval allowed for collecting data for calculations may require additional time when under a high load. The agent collects and provides this data to the system for calculations to display in node and other resources. The value may be inaccurate for cpu and io_bytes until a later release.

The data is collected and calculated by the agent and web console.  The calculations may be slightly inaccurate due to the length of time versus the actual values for the monitored node.

Resolution

A solution to this issue will be provided in a later release to better calculate cpu and io_bytes values when under high load.
