In SAM 6.0 or later, the Pages/sec performance counter for AppInsight for SQL will fail if the Orion Platform cannot find the counter on a monitored system, as indicated by this error message (or similar) in SAM logs:

Target:127.0.0.1, Instance:, Category:Memory, Counter:Pages/Sec, ErrorCode:Unhandled,

category value: Memory and counter: Pages/Sec for target: 127.0.0.1

Environment

  • SAM 6.4 or later, running on Orion Platform 2017.2 or later.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, run a SQL script on the Orion database.

  1. Access this Direct Download Link:
    https://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/HotFix/SolarWinds-SAM-v6.4-Hotfix3.zip
  1. Extract all files from the ZIP archive.

   2. Use the Orion Service Manager to stop all Orion services.

   3. Backup the Orion database.

   4. Run the SQL script extracted from the ZIP file on the Orion database.

Install in HA

If your product uses Orion Platform 2016.2 or later, follow these steps to resolve this issue with SolarWinds HA.

Important: The HA pool must be disabled to begin installation. If you install prior to disabling, the pool is automatically disabled.

  1. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  2. Select the pool you want to disable.
  3. Toggle High Availability to Off.
  4. Install the patch on the primary server in the pool.
  5. Install the patch on the secondary server in the pool.
  6. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > All Settings > High Availability Deployment Summary.
  7. Select the pool you want to enable and toggle High Availability to On.

The Orion Web Console verifies all SolarWinds product versions match across the HA pair before enabling. If you receive errors, check your product versions. You may need to recreate the HA pool. See Set up an HA pool.

Uninstall instructions

  1. Backup the Orion database.

  2. Use the Orion Service Manager to stop all Orion services.

  3. Run the uninstall.sq SQL script included in the downloaded ZIP file on the Orion database.
