Orion server template shown as Down on additional polling engine

Overview

Components within the Orion server template are shown as Down in an additional polling engine and displays the following message even when everything is working:
The service is stopped or disabled or is not installed on the target machine.


Environment

SAM 5.0 and later

Cause

This issue can occur when an application monitor template for the primary Orion server is applied to the additional polling engine. There are no specific templates for additional polling engines. The alerting service is only in the primary polling engine to reduce the work load on the APE. Rabbit MQ is also only located on the primary server, which may cause error messages to be returned.

 

The following are available services for monitoring on an APE:

Resolution

  1. Go to the Application Details page.
  2. Edit the assigned application monitor.
  3. Disable certain components within the template to fit your requirements.
