Overview

This article describes the issue when nodes are randomly reverting their node names back to their polling IP addresses very randomly.

Environment

  • All versions of SAM
  • All versions of NPM

Cause

There is a bug in the Orion core that is fixed by upgrading to the latest version of the Orion core.

Resolution

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds customer portal.
  2. On the home page, use the Full Products filter to download the latest version of either SAM or NPM. This automatically upgrades the core to Orion Platform v2015.1.2 - HotFix 6.
  3. Apply the upgrade to the Orion server, all additional pollers and all additional web servers.
