Node has not been polled in over 10 minutes in SAM

Overview

This article describes the issue when nodes have not been polled in over 10 minutes.

Environment

SAM version 6.2 and later

Steps

1. Check Polling Interval and if nodes are still polling.

2. Check APM.BusinessLayer.log and look for the error below:
    2016-07-24 18:01:11,396 [STP JobResult Thread #13] WARN  SolarWinds.APM.BusinessLayer.JobResultProcessing.Collector.CollectorDataProcessor - Collector DataProcessor Exception:
    System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: Insufficient resources to perform operation. (Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is:
    System.Messaging.MessageQueueException: Insufficient resources to perform operation.
       at System.Messaging.MessageQueue.SendInternal(Object obj, MessageQueueTransaction internalTransaction, MessageQueueTransactionType transactionType)

3. Navigate to \Windows\System32\msmq\Storage\ and verify the size. Default size if 1GB.

4. Stop all Orion Services using Orion Services Manager.

5. Launch Services.msc and stop Message Queuing.

6. Delete all .MQ files.

7. Increase MSMQ Size from 1GB to higher.

a. Got to My Computer > Manage Server > Features > MessageQueuing.

b. Right-click and select Properties > General Tab > Edit Message Storage from 1GB to 4 GB and increase Message Storage to 4194304 = 4GB.

c. You can also create MaximumQueueSize value in Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SolarWinds\Collector.

8. Restart all Orion Services and Message Queuing.

9. Verify that all Nodes are polling.
