The following error can be found in the logs:

This product number is not associated with the serial number provided. Please review your records and make any necessary edits or check the box to remove this item.

Environment

SAM 6.2.x — SAM 6.3.x

Note: This issue was resolved in SAM 6.4. Upgrade to the latest version of SAM.

Cause

The ESX server's ProductNumber returned via VMware API during automatic polling is incorrect.

Resolution

This issue was resolved in SAM 6.4. Upgrade to the latest version of SAM.

Alternatively, follow these steps:

1. Go to the HP website and pull the correct device product numbers.
2. Run the following query:
    UPDATE AssetInventory_ServerInformation
  SET ProductNumber ='XXXXX'
  WHERE NodeID ='YYYY'
3. Perform manual polling - Unscheduled Node Polling and Rediscovery.

Note: After polling, the ProductNumber reverts to the value from VMware API.
