WQL Query return value is empty or doesn't exist

Updated January 5th, 2017

Overview

A WMI Monitor Component periodically goes into an Unknown State with the following error:

WQL Query return value is empty or doesn't exist

Environment

All Versions of SAM

Cause

The WMI Monitor will go into an Unknown State if the query sometimes returns no information.

Resolution

Manually run the query via wbemtest when the issue is occurring:

  1. Run > wbemtest.
  2. Connect using the following credentials:
    Namespace: \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\root\cimv2
    User: DOMAIN\Username
    Password: **********
  3. Query.
  4. Run the same query that SAM is running.

If you get no data returning periodically then this is why the error displays within the SAM Component Monitor.
