This article describes how to upgrade the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on the main Orion server which is used for JMX queries in SolarWinds SAM.

All SAM versions

SolarWinds JMX Bridge service must be stopped in both cases and restarted afterwards.

Perform any of the following options to upgrade JRE:

  • Install the latest version of the JRE on any machine and replace the contents of the {InstalDirectory}\APM\jre8 subfolder, for example, in the SAM installation folder with the installed one. The default path for the installation folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\APM\jmxbridge.
  • Install the latest version of the JRE on the Orion Server and update the jrepath variable in the jsl.ini file located in the {InstalDirectory}\APM\jmxbridge\jsl subfolder on the Orion Server. Next, install the folder to point to the newly installed JRE. The JRE should update automatically.
