Unable to test components on an additional polling engine for SAM

Overview

If you receive the following error when you are testing a component in SAM, see the resolution below:

 

Error: Server stack trace: at System.ServiceModel.Channels.SecurityChannelFactory`1.SecurityRequestChannel.ProcessReply

...Exception Rethrown at [0]: .... at SolarWinds.JobEngine.IJobScheduler.AddJob

Environment

SAM, all versions

Resolution

  1. Go to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\JobEngine on the affected additional polling engine.
  2. Take a backup of the UCDAT1.xml file/rename it to UCDAT1.xml_OLD
  3. Stop all services using Orion Service Manager.
  4. Delete the UCDAT1.xml file.
  5. Run the configuration wizard.
  6. Repeat the steps for each affected polling engine.

This file is:

Job Engine credentials file, ucdat1.xml  .
Note: For Additional Polling Engines installed on Windows Server 2008, this file is located, by default, in C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\JobEngine\. For Additional Polling Engines installed on Windows Server 2003, it is located, by default, in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\JobEngine\.
