Overview

This article describes the issue when you receive the following error for specific Performance Counter Monitors in the Exchange 2010 Hub Transport Role Counters (Advanced):

TimeOut While Executing Job

Environment

All versions of SAM

Cause 

This is the result of missing performance counter monitors on the Exchange machine being monitored. 

Resolution

  1. In each Performance Counter Monitor with the error, make a note of the Instance that each monitor is in. This is available by clicking the + sign on each monitor. 
  2. On the Exchange machine, go to Start > run Perfmon. This brings up the Performance Monitor. 
  3. Click the green + sign.
  4. In the list of counters that come up, look for the Instance(s) for each monitor.

Note: If the Instance(s) cannot be found, please consult your Exchange administrator or Microsoft support to get the missing Category added.
