WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

The Windows Service monitor passes tests but fails to poll when using the Orion Agent. The issue may be two IP addresses assigned for the polling address. You can resolve this by upgrading to SAM 6.2.4 or later and selecting the IP for the polling address.

Environment

  • SAM 6.2.3 and earlier
  • Resolved in SAM 6.2.4 and later

Cause

Two IP addresses are available for the polling IP. You need to select the correct IP address for polling.

Resolution

You should upgrade to SAM 6.2.4 before selecting the correct IP for polling. For information on upgrading SAM, see the SAM Upgrade Guide.

  1. Navigate to node and click edit.
  2. Locate the Polling IP Address and click Select IP Address.
  3. You may see multiple IP addresses available. Select the correct polling address and save changes.
  4. Resume polling. The Windows Service should continue collecting data via the Orion Agent.
