Quickly add multiple SSL monitors to SAM

Table of contents

Updated January 5th, 2017

Overview

To quickly add multiple SSL monitors to sites not monitored as nodes, create an external node and assign the template during that process.  Discovery often cannot find the external sites for DNS or ping rejection reasons.

Environment

SAM 4.x and above

Steps

In Orion web console:

  1. Click settings - add node.
  2. Put in the IP address of the server - not the web site address.
  3. Click external node radio button and click next.
  4. Click the drop-down for the SAM applications and click SSL
  5. Click the check box to select that template and the check box to inherit credentials from node
  6. Click next and click add node.
  7. In SAM web console, click Applications at the top to load the application summary page. Check the All Applications resource to make sure the SSL application's status is UP.
