Prevent Warning and Critical messages from triggering for SAM Appinsight application monitors

Table of contents

Updated June 19, 2017

Overview

This article describes a workaround on how to prevent Warning and Critical messages from triggering for AppInsight for Exchange, IIS, or SQL application monitors. Currently, it is not possible to disable most components within the SAM AppInsight template due to the nature of the components having dependencies upon each other to report an accurate application status.

Environment

SAM 6.2.x later

Steps

Perform the following steps as a workaround:

  1. Go to the Application Details Page of your AppInsight template.
  2. Click Edit Application Monitor.
  3. Locate the components where the Warning and Critical status messages need to be disabled.
  4. Expand the component and select Override template.
  5. Set the custom threshold on the component.
  6. Enter a value that is larger than the current value.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Submit.

The Warning or Critical messages will be cleared during the next poll as they no longer breach the defined custom threshold.
