Physical Servers being monitored show a child Warning or Critical status even though no problems are present

Overview

Physical Servers being monitored show a child Warning or Critical status (yellow/red) even though no problems are present. This indicates a false positive.

Environment

All SAM versions

Cause

This is a known issue that has been observed after upgrading from SAM 5.0 or 5.2 to SAM 5.5 or higher on Physical server nodes monitoring hardware health (polling method of the node is SNMP or WMI).

Resolution

Delete the node and then re-add it. This can be accomplished by running the following SQL script:

delete from NodeChildStatus where EntityType = 'Orion.APM.HardwareInfo' and NodeID in (select NodeID from APM_HardwareInfo where PollingMethod in (2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8))

exec swsp_ReflowAllNodeChildStatus
